Our process:
Goldylight Magazine was built to stand apart from other magazines, submission experience included. This isn't a post-and-ghost, "we'll be in touch" submission — this is your own mini art exhibit. We want you to really think about the work you're submitting, and then to tell us about it. Give us the director's cut. The artist's process. Consider us the light table for your contact sheet. Let's begin.
Welcome to our submissions page.
Quick Note:
Goldylight is free to submit to. No memberships, no submission fees, no post promotions. In a publication world that is increasingly pay-to-play, it was important to us to create a magazine that felt like the old days, where your work is judged on merit alone.
Submission Guidelines: Our Gold Standards
All images submitted, including an artist headshot, must be film. Absolutely no digital work, not even digital edited with film emulations, will be accepted.
Images must be from real weddings only. No styled shoots or content days. You must have been the lead photographer, not the second photographer. We are not accepting elopements or portrait sessions at this time.
Make sure your exposure and focus is correct. We allow film a little grace with underexposure or soft focus, but if the majority of your images are underexposed and/or out of focus, your submission will not be accepted.
No dutch angles. A few subtle ones are okay to follow movement or invoke emotion, but if your submission is full of drastic dutch angles taken just to have a dutch angle, your submission will be denied. Think cinema, not mid-2000s sitcoms and music videos.
You must have written consent from your couple (either in an email or from your model release clause) to publish images in our magazine. A full vendor credit list is also required.
Photo Submissions:
Please submit a minimum of 45 images at 72ppi in their own standalone gallery. We want to see all the film you shot for this wedding!
Your name should be in the file name (ex: GoldylightMagazine-1.jpg). Pixieset, Pic-Time, or Shootproof galleries are preferred. WeTransfer and Google Drive will not be accepted. Please make sure the gallery is PUBLIC and that password-free downloads are turned ON.
8mm and 16mm Submissions:
Please submit your film via YouTube or Vimeo link. You can submit a highlight or full film.
Your name should be in the file name (ex: GoldylightMagazine-1.jpg). Delivery sites like Pic-Time or VidFlow are also accepted. WeTransfer and Google Drive will not be accepted. Please make sure the gallery is PUBLIC and that password-free downloads are turned ON.
WE RESPOND TO ALL SUBMISSIONS WITHIN TWO WEEKS. PLEASE WAIT TO CHECK IN UNTIL 15 DAYS HAVE PASSED.
FAQs
-
The nitty gritty of it: we are looking for film shot in a variety of lighting conditions, under various time & space constraints.
The heart & soul of it: we're looking for film shot out of breath and under fire. Polaroids tucked into waistbands to be peeked at long after the moment has passed. No retakes, no live monitor, no way to check the back of your camera; just the press of a shutter infused with a prayer that you got it right. -
We accept film from $15 point-and-shoots to $4000 Contax set ups, from garage sale Canon 314s to imported Beaulieus. That being said, if your gallery is exclusively created on a point-and-shoot and/or Holga, we are less likely to accept your submission. We're looking for work that is thoughtfully created, and that includes your hand in exposures and focus pulls.

You can submit both, but we ask that you focus on the artist's process with your primary medium of the day. If you have a partner you shoot photo and video with, we ask that they are included in your submission details and in the artist interview.
