How a Facetime call turned into the magazine you're reading today.

WE STARTED GOLDYLIGHT WHEN WE REALIZED THERE WAS NO Publication FOR FILM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS TO simply BE ARTISTS.

WE STARTED GOLDYLIGHT WHEN WE REALIZED THERE WAS NO PUBLICATION FOR FILM WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS TO SIMPLY BE ARTISTS.

And we started to notice that our photos were selected based only on what the magazines were showing their couples. Our favorite film magic was often discarded in favor of bright, crisp digital photos.

In fact, film wasn't a big deal at all to most of these magazines, and the magazines that did care about film photography only published portraiture and landscapes. We were stuck between wedding magazines that only catered to couples and film magazines that didn't take wedding photography seriously.

Wedding photography may be our vocation, but we are artists first.

And there were no spaces for us to talk about the art we were creating with our film. So, in January of 2024, a FaceTime call turned a frustrated wish into an idea.

Goldylight is, at its heart, a haven for your work and work that will inspire you. A place for you to be an artist, not a wedding vendor in a byline. A publication for your imperfect, organic, once-in-a-lifetime film shots. Every single photo that you see on this site, including headshots, was taken on film.

There are no restrictions here on how you shoot your film. No trying to force your work into a stylistic or aesthetic box. If you are proud of your work, then it's welcome here. Because this is a place that your film can call home.
